So we all gathered at Tommy’s house Saturday to begin the work on his car.
The task was small, but needed none the less. We pulled all four hubs off and changed out the bearings to low-drag units. A long overdue swap in my book. Unfortunately, as is the case with most the things we do, the wallet was what held this one off for so long. With the bearings completed and the hubs remounted along with some different brakes on the front of the car, we called it a day.
Mixed in during the work was talk of where we were headed with my new chassis and pit cart. Both need some work, the chassis needing quite a bit. Ultimately I’m not sure we nailed it all down, but that will give us something to talk about next time.
Stay tuned for more news and updates. . .
More updates. It seems like not that long ago I updated to Wordpress 2.6. Then, almost as soon as I did they released 2.6.1.
It’s starting to feel like Microsoft is running Wordpress! I just updated to 2.6.3 and there is already chatting going on about the 2.7 beta2 version.
Hopefully everything is still working fine. Feel free to point out anything that looks bizarre, other than me, and I’ll try to fix it. I also added a couple new items in the little ticker, I know how much Dad likes the little ticker.
Other than that, it’s bussiness as usual around here. ![]()
I just returned from my little camping trip so I have to get the lowdown from the gang on what happened in my absence. I went to southern Oregon to do a little camping and pick up a pit cart from a fellow racer.
The word was that the team was going to work on Tommy’s LMCS car. I’m not sure what they were working on yet.
Look for an update on the happenings once I chat with the team.
Wow, where does the time go? It seems like just a few short months ago we were thrashing like crazy to finish the car for the season opener and here we are closing in on Thanksgiving already!
Last Saturday we held our annual “End of season Team Meeting”. I like the meeting as it gives me a time and place to say thank you to the guys who make it all happen. Every one else kind of feels the same way.I was honored to present them with a thank you plaque commemorating their efforts. It truly isn’t enough, but it’s what I can do.
We also took that moment to discuss our thoughts for the 2009 season. The main focus, as stated before, will be Donny’s Street Stock. He deserves a serious effort and we all want to see that car on the track. I think it will be more fun than we have had in some time.
Tommy added to the thoughts with his desire to focus on the South Sound Speedway “Big Four Mini-Series”. Even if dates conflict with the Street Stock, the location is the same, so no problem there. As for me? I’m waiting to get actual hard copy schedules from each of those afore-mentioned series’ as well as the 2009 LLMRS schedule. Once I have all those i can sit down and try to plan what race dates I will try to target. I’d like to make a couple events to support the series. The ones I’d really like to make would be Ephrata & Port Angeles. All of that is dependant on the actual schedules, so stay tuned for that. . .
Well, we already knew who the winner was, and it wasn’t us. Or was it?. . .
Saturday brought us the official close of the 2008 LLMRS Championship Season with the Awards Banquet. I got to watch John get his second consecutive “Series Champion” trophy. Congratulations John, we did everything we could to keep that from happening.
I was awarded my 2nd place trophy, and I’m quite impressed. Very nice trophies this year, good job guys!
The real shock of the evening came when I was presented the 2008 LLMRS “Sportsman of the Year” award. The award was voted on by all drivers in attendance, and I fully expected it to go to the guy I voted for as I was sure everyone else would vote for him too. Boy was I shocked when they called my name! So, to all the LLMRS drivers, in attendance or not, a very big “Thank You” from me to each of you. I will say this, it was a pleasure to race with the group of guys we had this season, all of them. I enjoyed racing with each one of them, even the ones who ran into financial trouble and had to pull back mid season, the ones who moved to other series’ or tracks closer to home, the ones who made me work for it, the ones who challenged me to be even better, each and every one of them.
Then came the contingency awards. The series has some sponsors who came on board for 2008 and they offered up some freebies for the series competitors. We were lucky enough to win a couple fuel jugs and a case of oil.
All in all, I think we had a great night and came away with some nice stuff along with some respect I was not aware we had. Truly a great ending to a great season. ![]()
