So my little trip to Texas is over and I’m trying to get back into the normal mode of things. That means I better post something here!
Having been back to Texas for the first time in a very long time, I have to say, I miss it more now than ever before. It truly is “Home” to me. It was funny how fast I felt like I belonged there and how bad I did not want to get on that plane. No place in the world compares to Texas. You will never find a place with that amount of pride in simply being from there. It shows in every thing they do and it is proudly on display everywhere you look. Simply stating “I was born here” was met every time with “Well, welcome home!” And as for the chili rellenos, I found the right place and I have to say it was the best I’ve ever eaten. But enough of my babbling about being homesick, let’s get on with the update!
I had a chat with Pops last night. He got me up to speed on the ‘low down’ that ‘went down’ while I was ‘out of town’!
The guys took the opportunity to set the engine in the #92 Super Stock, putting Tommy in a much better position to continue hanging that new body without fear of it being messed up later had the engine went in last. We’ve done that before, it isn’t the best method.
I was very happy to hear they got that done. A great decision and a great thing to have finished up. Also, Mom started applying the numbers to the #29 Street Stock. I hear she will be finishing them up this week, putting Donny on track for his debut in the driver’s seat this coming Saturday for the first practice session. That’s right, This Saturday!
As for the #68 Limited, Pops did some work on it, but nothing major. Just a few items that needed assembled so we could measure and order more parts. We should get back on track with that car during the week or this coming Sunday.
I’m looking forward to Saturday. If it is sunny I get to watch Donny take his first laps around the track. Something we’ve all been waiting on for a very long time. And if the weather doesn’t cooperate, there is tons of work to do on that Toyota that I’m also very excited about digging into. The next 3 weeks should be a very energetic time as we will be watching Donny as he learns what the view looks like from behind the windshield and seeing the other two team cars start to come together.
Stay tuned for more news and updates. . .
